Guisados Echo Park

Not too far from Dodger Stadium, actually right on Sunset Blvd. and Elysian Park Ave, is a small little piece of taco heaven. Guisados in Echo Park serves house braised meats that are reminiscent of slow simmering food in a Mexican home.

The tortillas are hand made, as you would expect them to be in a place that takes mindful preparation of their dishes. Indecisive, because I wanted to try all the tacos, I opted for the taco sampler. My favorite one was the Cochinita Pibil - shredded pork cooked in a sweet, red achiote chile atop black beans. So good!

Guisados also has two other locations, one in Downtown LA and the original in Boyle Heights. It’s worth a visit for tacos that are not your typical street/carne aside that you find at the trucks. It’s just good, slow cooked, food that’s made with a lot of heart and soul.
