Hotel Palomar - Your Next San Diego Getaway

February 24, 2016

We just can't get enough of Kimpton Hotels. Every time we stay at one of their luxury boutique properties, we always leave relaxed and happy. This is even more true with Kimpton's Hotel Palomar in San Diego

In the heart of San Diego's downtown is this beautiful, modern, boutique hotel with views of water, skyscrapers and Coronado. The rooms are large and if you opt for the corner suite, you'll find yourself soaking in the extra large tub after a hard day of craft beer tasting. But the unwinding doesn't stop there, the hotel's spa is one of the best in the city.

The moment you enter the spa, you can't help but take a deep breath knowing that all your cares, stress and worries were left at the door. You are here to simply relax and the staff will spare no detail to make sure you do just that. You unwind and wait for your massage appointment in the waiting area on large beds in a plush robe sipping cucumber water. Soon your masseuse comes and escorts you to your private massage room complete with a steam shower. Aromatherapy and hot stones are one of the many additions you will want to include in your experience. After your massage the masseuse leaves you so you can enjoy the steam shower while sipping on water and realizing you just had one of the best spa experiences you have ever had. It's true, Jurlique Spa is that wonderful.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Saltbox will not disappoint with its farm-to-table approach and inventive cocktail program. The gastro-lounge is conveniently located in the hotel and offers their take on comforting classics like short rib poutine, shrimp and grits, and buttermilk fried chicken with creamed kale. The wine braised short rib pot roast is a solid dish to order for dinner, don't miss that. If you're there for just drinks and a snack, the maple bacon popcorn sinfully salty, smokey, and sweet - all wrapped up into one. If deciding on a flat bread, order the "Soft Egg" with applewood smoked bacon, tomato, perfectly cooked egg with a creamy yolk, and truffle oil. It's a pizza (if you want to call it that) you'll want to eat all by yourself.

The Nightman - Templeton Rye, cyanar, chartreuse yellow, and orange bitters.

"Soft Egg" Flatbread - applewood smoked bacon, tomato, farm egg, truffle oil.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with creamed kale and honey hot sauce.

Chianti braised pot roast with yukon gold potato puree and crispy onions.
