Giving Up Food for Pressed Juicery

January 10, 2015

I’m a big fan of Pressed Juicery, you’ve probably seen me tweet in the past about how much I love their juice, “Greens 3.” I also like that they have multiple locations so it’s easy to pop in whenever I need a boost. That’s why it was a no brainer that when I needed to reset my body, I would go to them for a 3 day juice cleanse at the start of the new year.

Their signature cleanse #2 arrived at my doorstep. I received 24 juices (6 each day) and 6 cleanse waters (2 each day). Each bottle was marked with a number on top or directions stating “drink throughout the day” and “drink before bed.” It was kind of like Alice in Wonderland when she was experimenting with the foods that said “eat this” and “drink this.” This was the start to the rabbit hole of cleansing.

My biggest fear was going a day without coffee, but I didn’t even miss it and I had plenty of energy throughout the day. I had six juices, drinking them about 2 hours apart, and a chlorophyll water I drank throughout the day. I didn’t really feel hungry, because I was content as soon as I drank my juice. Sure, I was craving a burger when I saw it posted on Instagram, but I tried not to think about it. I found my cleanse to be easy the first two days, because I was busy with work - so word to the wise, do it during the week and not on weekends when your friends are inviting you to lunch.

So how do the juices taste? Fresh, delicious and some are even sweeter than you would think. I found a few new flavors that I will go back and drink regularly like Citrus 2 that tastes like a tropical pineapple drink. Even Roots 3, a beet juice (yes, beets) was delicious and I could see it being used as a base in sangria - why not? My favorite of all, was the sixth bottle of the day that tasted like a vanilla almond smoothie. Before going to bed, I drank a bottle of Aloe Vera Alkaline Water that came with the juices.

By day three I was craving food, only because I was working on a project involving a lot of eateries around LA, but I still felt satisfied and after three days of no coffee, I was still energetic enough to chase down the Little Dude around the house. As a by-product, I lost about 7 pounds in those 3 days; although, I don’t think the point of this cleanse is for weight loss, but rather to add delicious cold pressed juice to lead you to a healthier lifestyle. After completing my first juice cleanse, I feel great and I’m definitely going to incorporate Pressed Juicery to my lifestyle more often.

My 6 daily juices, Clockwise from top right: Greens 2, Citrus 2, Greens 3, Roots 3, Lemon Cayenne h20, Vanilla Almond.

Daily juices and waters.

Each one is labeled so you easily know when to drink each bottle.

Green juice never tasted this good.
