Madera Kitchen

November 19, 2014

It's Sunday morning around 10:55am and you would never guess by the quiet streets that you're in the middle of Hollywood between the famous Hollywood Bowl and iconic Hollywood Boulevard. We arrived just as Madera Kitchen was opening - before the hungry brunch crowds appeared.

The space of the restaurant is rustic with a mix of modern, and has a very spacious outdoor area with a fireplace. I ordered the Chicken and Waffle, the Mrs. had the Open Face Breakfast Sandwich. We split an order of Cinnamon donuts, as well as the off-menu Chilaquiles - why not, it's the weekend. The chicken and waffle was served with a chipotle maple syrup that had just the right amount of smokey heat and sweetness to it. As good as that was, the real standout was the chilaquiles served with slow roasted pork in grilled tomato sauce, chickpeas, avocado, feta, and topped off with two sunny side eggs.

Indeed, Madera Kitchen is a great brunch option after a long night out in Hollywood. They're also open daily for dinner starting at 6pm.
